Anxiety and Children

Anxiety in children is more common than we realize. Some fears and anxiety are normal part of a child development yet it is important to check for excessive worry that interferes with their daily activities. To determine if you child might be having anxiety you can check for these signs:

• Excessive worry that does not relent
• Trouble with concentration
• Difficulty getting to sleep at night or sleepiness during the day
• Consistent irritability
• Restlessness or fatigue during the day
• Unusual clinging to parents or caregivers

Anxiety is easily treatable with cognitive behavioral therapy specifically design for the treatment of children. Treatment is usually short term.
