Couples Therapy

Couples Therapy

Our counselors provide relationship counseling, and pre-marital and marital counseling.
When working with couples we do not make judgments on who is right or wrong and we do not try to persuade couples to stay together or to separate. We assist couples with the unique challenges of being with someone in a committed relationship and the troubles that might arise along the way.

Counseling can help a couple to:
• Start the process of rediscovering why they were attracted in the first place
• Assist them in the process of finding out what they want from their relationship and from each other
• Understand how both parties contribute to the current relationship
• Help identify what each of them is prepared to do to make the relationship work
• Modify patterns of communication that affect their current situation
• Identify areas of conflict and areas of strength to solidify their commitment

Some area of focus may include:
• Recovering from an affair
• Financial stressors
• Communicating and decreased enjoyment, intimacy, and fun,
• Decisions around having children
• Personality clashes, cultural differences, and sexual concerns
• Concerns about disability, illness or aging,
• Relationship stress caused by sexual and other addictions
• Managing the pressures of family and extended family
