Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Can be a particularly debilitating condition if left untreated. Symptoms of OCD include recurring obsessions (thoughts, impulses, images) or compulsions. Compulsion are a repetitive mental or physical rituals used to reduce anxiety aroused by the obsessions. These obsessions and/or compulsions are excessive, time consuming, illogical and often significant distress and impairment in daily living. Common obsessions include a need for symmetry, contamination, general sense of disarray or tension, contamination, thoughts of dying, thoughts of harm or sexual obsessions. Common compulsions include hand washing, counting, door checking and praying.
